HISTORY

Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium, Inc. was established in 1831 in Smyrna, Delaware. Faries Funeral Home is Delaware�s oldest funeral establishment, having served the Smyrna/Clayton area for nearly 180 years. We are now in our 6th generation of business and may quite possibly be the oldest funeral home in the United States handed directly from father to son. Our goal at Faries Funeral Home is to meet the needs of our families and provide the service and facilities necessary for a funeral ceremony that will leave the survivors with a pleasant, lasting memory of their loved one. We conduct low profile ceremonies because we don�t believe that the funeral director should be the center of attention, our families should be. We are there to direct, advise and handle the necessary arrangements of the funeral ceremony and offer our services wherever needed.

Wells A. Faries, Jr. is the sixth generation of the Faries family to call on the funeral business. Wells graduated from Smyrna High School in 1973 and Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1974, following which he served his internship under the watchful eye and experience of his father Wells A. "Lex" Faries.
